Description

SH2-188 is an interesting planetary nebula in Cassiopeia. The object was first photographed in 1965 and thought to be a supernova remnant. Subsequent studies reclassified it as a planetary nebula with an asymmetric shape. Models propose that the rapidly moving PN is interacting with the interstellar medium. The bow shock is preserved in the direction of forward motion but the back end of the PN essentially drags behind and eventually dissipates away.

This is an interesting target but in spite of the long integration time, processing ended up being a challenge. A much tougher target than I anticipated. Oh well, off to the next target...
